I'm just wondering why other people chose MS word. My reason for keeping it was pretty simple. In any case, after we get some posts here we can add a list of reasons why we chose MS Word. If you chose another program, write why you think it's better. We need to brainstorm a little to get an overall critique showing what we chose as the preferred program and why
My reasons:
I own a copy, the fact that it costs more doesn't matter to me in the least. I've payed the cost if I use it or not.
It has more overall options than the free programs.
I can have more instances of MS Word open than the web based programs.
The Word document file is fairly universal.
I don't need to be connected to the internet, but I can upload things to it if I want to.
I've had a lot of experience with the software and am quite proficient.

It seems that the main argument from geekzone.co is that Windows OS is becoming less important and valuable since online apps will eventually dominate. I suppose I could see this happening eventually, but not quite yet. I have yet to experience a really good online program that can deal with large files as quickly as a program on my desktop. Even just to upload, edit and then download a photo takes longer than necessary. Im not sure this is directly related to why I chose MS Word, but this is what I got from the argument. Interestingly enough, while I was on campus one day last week, I was unable to check or work on our Google doc since the internet was out for a good 5 hrs. I can see this as a major problem if i were completely reliant on online apps to do my work.
